On This Day...

On this day, January 12, in 1932 (77 years ago), Ophelia Wyatt Caraway, a democrat from Arkansas, became the first woman elected to the United States Senate. She was appointed to the Senate two months prior to fill the seat of her late husband Thaddeus Horatio Caraway. Caraway was re-elected to the Senate in 1938, but did not receive a renomination in 1944 and was appointed to the Federal Employees Compensation Committee by President Franklin Roosevelt.

Coupled Up!

Jazzy J and Winky? Yeah, based on this pic I would definitely say that they are dating! Reps for both of them denied a serious relationship between the two. When confronted on the issue Jazzy J said, "He's my friend...yeah, he's my friend." I guess we will have to go with that for now, until we get an official pic of the two kissing or something. Whatever the relationship is, they aren't hiding it from anyone because, as you can see, pics of the two together continue to show up on the web. Sources close to the two say that even if they are dating, it's not as if either one of them was involved with someone else. Whatever. They do look cute together.

Hottie Alert!

She has major sex appeal once you get to know her, but I think she's more cute, than sexy. Either way, she's hot! Chinyere Dobson is this week's hottie! She's an extraordinarily talented young, aspiring actress and after just one conversation with her she will surely have you rolling on the floor laughing. She's small, but full of power and intelligence, and certainly no one's ingenue. Yes, she's leading lady material, which also contributes to her hotness, and she won't back down from any challenge. From a distance, she seems calm and reserved, but once you get to know her you'll realize that she is probably one of the most loud and expressive people you'll ever know. One meeting with this 5'1" pint sized beauty and you'll realize that big things come in small packages.

In The Limelight

For this edition of "In The Limelight" we have the ultra-talented Bree, a "musical prodigy" from Baltimore, Maryland. Singing since early childhood, Bree has always had a serious passion for music. Previously performing with girl groups "Untamed" and "Harmony," Bree developed a keen ear for complex backgrounds and musical arrangements. Opening for legends such as B.B. King and the late, great Gerald Levert, this beautiful, soulful, young powerhouse is no stranger to charming an audience. Bree has done many collaborations with hip-hop, rock, and R&B artists. Creating a wonderful chemistry with producers Frank Johnson, Mocha Banks, and, most importantly, "Banga Bill," she captivates you with the finished product. Producing breathtaking ballads like "Cuz I Luv Yah" and "Seasons," as well as mid and up tempos such as, "If I Should," "Glamour Girls," and "Outta Control," Bree definitely has an amazing ability to create a wide range of music, and an extreme wealth of talent. So, get to know Bree and her music. She's going to be a huge star!

To learn more about Bree and to hear some of her music, view her MySpace page here: www.myspace.com/breehemp

We would also like to wish Bree a Happy Birthday! She celebrated her birthday this past weekend.

On This Day...

On this day, January 11, in 1908 (101 years ago), President Theodore Roosevelt made the Grand Canyon a national monument. The canyon is located in northwestern Arizona. When visiting the canyon there are many activities for one to take part in as the canyon floor is accessible by foot, boat, or mule. Whitewater rafting, hiking, and running are some of the most popular activities at the canyon. Many choose to simply marvel at the canyon's beauty from the canyon's South Rim (about 7,000 feet above sea level), observing the Grand Canyon in all its allurement, which has gone unchanged for over 400 years. Upon declaring it a national monument Roosevelt said, "Let this great wonder of nature remain as it now is...You cannot improve on it."

Also on this day, January 11, in 1989 (20 years ago), President Ronald Reagan gave his farewell address after eight years of being president of the United States of America. In his farewell, Reagan said that the United States "rediscovered" its commitment to world freedom in the 1980s. He maintained that the U.S. was "respected again in the world and looked to for leadership."
